Our Misson
We are a group of Christian homeschool families working together to glorify God by equipping our children in the study of truth, beauty, and goodness in a supportive Christ-centered community using the classical approach.
Who We Are
We are a volunteer parent lead group that meets weekly in Troy Pennsylvania. Each parent is expected to share instructor responsibilities equally and work together to keep Christ at the center of all things taught. Each parent is expected to teach or assist during class time. Parents remain responsible for the safety and care of their children during group meetings. We all work together to foster a safe and encouraging environment.
Why Classical
The term Classical Education can be intimidating. It is filled with big concepts and terms such as trivium, quadrivium, and pedagogy. Latin and Greek are learned, and Homer and Socrates are read. Though, at its core, it may be the most simple and straightforward of all teaching methods. Students are not expected to perform past their natural developmental abilities but instead are given the basic tools of learning. Subjects are not siloed into separated categories but instead, the world is learned as it is, a whole thing that is interconnected. Christian classical education takes this approach to the obvious next level; since the world is God’s and all things are created by Him, all understanding begins and ends with Him. Christianity is not sprinkled on top, as in other Christian curriculum, it is found weaved and threaded throughout. The expectation is that when we meet we will approach God’s world as His. We will work together to instruct our children to recognize what is true, good, and beautiful.
Our Goals
-
Our children will be encouraged to strive to know God by learning about His world through classes taught through a Christian worldview (Romans 12:2). Scripture will be memorized and recited, the Bible will be read, and we will pray and praise together.
-
Our children will learn to be good stewards of God’s creation. As Christians we believe “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” (Psalm 24:1) All science will be taught from the young earth creationist view.
-
Our children will learn how to be good citizens of the community God has placed them in. We will come together to perform a variety of mission projects to help our neighbors (1 Peter 4:10).
-
Our children will know how to defend His word. The older students will be offered a safe, encouraging environment to learn public speaking and how to debate (2 Peter 3:15-17).
What We Believe
1. The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the supreme and final authority for all of faith and life. (Matthew 5:17, 18; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21)
2. There is one God, eternally existent in the three Persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:18–20; John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
3. God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, in six literal days. (Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11)
4. Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and under God’s wrath and just condemnation. (Genesis 1:26, 27; 3; Romans 3:9–18; 5:12–21; Ephesians 2:1–3)
5. In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, who came as God in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin. (John 1:1, 14; Philippians 2:5–11; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:21–23)
6. In the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His miracles, His atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His imminent bodily return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:23; 28:6; Luke 1:35; Acts 1:9–11; 2 Corinthians 5:18–21; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18)
7. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection. (Romans 4:24, 25; 5:6–11; 2 Corinthians 5:17–21)
8. God, by His grace, offers salvation as a free gift to the sinner to be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. (Romans 3:20–28; Ephesians 2:1–10; Titus 3:3–7)
9. Marriage was designed and instituted by God as the union between one man and one woman. God has commanded that sexual intimacy take place only within that marriage union. (Genesis 1:27, 28; 2:20–25; 1 Corinthians 6:18–20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3–8; Hebrews 13:4)
10. God forms each child as a living human being in the womb from the time of conception— distinctly male or female—for His good purposes. (Psalm 139:13–16; Jeremiah 1:4, 5)
11. Parents are given by God the authority and responsibility to lovingly and wisely care for and educate their children, bringing them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Deuteronomy 6:4–7; Ephesians 6:1–4)
2025-2026 School Year Plans
We will be offering classes for kindergarten through sixth grade with hope of adding options for higher grades if there is interest. Our kindergarten class will focus primarily on memory work, phonics and math while our older students have the opportunity to study ancient history and a variety of other topics together.
